James E. Bellard, M.D.

Dr. Bellard is board certified in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. He maintains both clinical and forensic practices at RPA. In his clinical practice he provides pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy for adult patients and specializes in treatment-resistant depression and midlife issues.

In his forensic practice he accepts referrals from lawyers involving criminal and civil court cases as well as providing independent medical evaluations and evaluations for the medical board and bar. He has testified in court over one hundred times in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Dr. Bellard received his B.A. from the University of Virginia, his M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine, and completed his psychiatry residency at UNC-Chapel Hill.

He is a member of the American Academy of Psychiatry and Law, the American College of Forensic Psychiatry, the American and North Carolina Psychiatric Associations, and the North Carolina Medical Society.
